15 days Southeast and Samaná round trip
On this combination trip you will get to know the southeast and the peninsula of Samaná.
UNESCO World Heritage Santo Domingo
After a relaxing day on the beach and a stay on the lonely island of Saona, you will visit the capital Santo Domingo. The city offers a fabulous mix of 16th century houses, imposing late medieval palaces and fortresses. The colonial city has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. On the sightseeing program stand different objects of interest and routes by the old part of town, among other things the Parque Colón with the statue of Christopher Columbus and the palace Alcazár de Colón. The “Parque Nacional Tres Ojos” with its four freshwater lagoons is also visited.
Exploration of the Samaná Peninsula
During your excursion in Samaná you will not only make a tour through the city of Santa Barbára de Samaná, but also discover other natural beauties of the peninsula such as a remote waterfall. The way leads us through a jungle, where an indescribable variety of Caribbean plants can be admired at the roadside. A natural pool at the foot of the waterfall invites you to take a refreshing dip.
Los Haitises National Park and Bacardi Island
The boat trip to the national park “Los Haitises” takes you to the coastal zone of the over 200 km² nature reserve. A huge green mangrove belt stretches along the coast and over 50 small islands form a labyrinth of waterways. A trip to Cayo Levantado, also called “Bacardi Island”, is also part of the program. The two kilometres long and approx. 500 metres wide island is under conservation and is surrounded by light to turquoise blue sea. In combination with the fantastic white sandy beaches the island offers a breathtaking scenery.
The absolute highlight of this individual trip is the trip to the wonderful island of Saona!
