The cliffs at depths from 5 to 40 metres are often crossed by caves of different sizes and depths and there are tunnels and underwater caves that can be dived. Shipwrecks can be found in the north, in Samaná and off the south coast. Coral fish and various reef inhabitants up to large fish like barracudas, eagle rays, manta rays or reef sharks can be found in the waters of the Dominican Republic.

The best time to visit the Peninsula Samaná is from June to September. The water temperatures are about 29 degrees, visibility can be up to 40 meters.
