Flight time to the Dominican Republic – How long does one fly to the Caribbean paradise ?

There is no doubt that the Dominican Republic is a dream destination in the Caribbean. The flight time from Düsseldorf to the Dominican Republic is only a little more than 10 hours. The flight time between the Dominican Republic and Munich, Frankfurt or Zurich is similar. And back it goes with tail wind even faster, so that you need depending upon flight route only between 9 and 10 hours. Thus the flight time between the Dominican Republic on the one hand and Duesseldorf, Frankfurt, Munich or Zurich on the other hand is very bearable. Direct flights are offered all year round. However, the number of flights is considerably higher in winter than in summer, as the peak season is between December and April.

Direct flights from German-speaking countries to the Dominican Republic start in Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Munich and Zurich. The largest range of flights is available from Düsseldorf. Both Condor and Eurowings fly between Düsseldorf and Punta Cana on the east coast. The airports Puerto Plata and Samana on the north coast are only served by Eurowings, as is La Romana on the south-east coast.

Condor Flugdienst was founded in 1955 by Deutsche Lufthansa and other German companies. However, the holiday airline did not adopt its current name until 1961. Since 2009, Condor has been a 100% subsidiary of the British Thomas Cook Group. The long-haul flights are operated with Boeing 767 aircraft. On the routes from Düsseldorf, however, an Airbus A 330 of the Canadian Air Transat is used.

The airline Eurowings was created in 1993 through the merger of two German regional airlines. In 2001, Deutsche Lufthansa initially acquired 24.9% of the company’s shares, and since August 2011 it has owned the entire airline. Between 2010 and 2017, all smaller regional jets were phased out. Since then, the company has been operating holiday flights and routes away from Lufthansa hubs, as well as larger Airbus A 319 and A 320 aircraft. The long-haul traffic, which only started in 2015, is served by A 330 aircraft, which are operated by SunExpress Germany or Brussels Airlines.

Edelweiss Air is a Swiss airline founded in 1995 by the Kuoni travel group and the Greek Venus Air. Long-haul flights began in November 2000. Edelweiss Air has been a subsidiary of Swiss since November 2008 and is therefore part of the Lufthansa Group. A 330 and A 340 aircraft are used on long-haul flights.
