Highlights of the North

Day 1 – Arrival in Cabarete

Arrival at the airport in Puerto Plata, transfer to the hotel in Cabarete and check-in. Welcome drink. Rest of the day off.

Day 2 – Dat at leisure  

Day 3 – Tropical river boat trip

After breakfast, transfer to Islabon with an English speaking tour guide. Departure from the hotel at 09:00 am. First we visit a small petting zoo, where we are going to learn lots of interesting things about the biodiversity of the Dominican Republic. Afterwards we take a 45 min. boat trip along the river Rio Sabaneta de Yasica until we reach La Boca, where the river ends in an untouched part of the sea. It is possible to swim in the river or in the sea. For lunch, traditionally prepared dishes (grilled fish or chicken) await us in a rustic tree house restaurant. In the afternoon we return by boat to the starting point and then back to the hotel. The total duration of the tour is approx. 6 hours.

Day 4 – Waterfalls of Damajagua 

After breakfast, transfer to the 27 waterfalls of Damajagua with private driver. Departure from the hotel at 09:00 am. Arrival at the waterfalls around 8:30 am. The approx. 3-hour guided tour with an English speaking tour guide starts with a moderate hike of approx. 40 min to the top of the waterfalls, where the real fun begins. We jump, slide and swim our way back to the starting point. Jumps as high as 8 meters are possible. Don’t worry, all jumps can be avoided. At the end of this adventure we are going to enjoy a delicious Dominican lunch buffet. In the afternoon, transfer back to the hotel. The total duration of the tour is approx. 6 hours.

Day 5 – Gri Gri Lagoon, Playa Caleton and Playa Grande

After breakfast, transfer with private driver to the Gri Gri Lagoon, famous for its rich birdlife and crystal clear waters. Departure from the hotel at 09:00 am. Finally we take the boat through the mangrove forests to the secluded beach of Playa Caleton, where a refreshing cooling in the sea awaits us. Continue to the picturesque beach of Playa Grande, one of the most beautiful beaches on the north coast. Various local specialities including fish and crawfish can be eaten here for lunch. Sufficient time for bathing and relaxing on the beach. Return to the hotel. The total duration of the tour is approx. 8 hours.

Day 6 – Off-road jeep safari

After breakfast, full day off road jeep safari with English speaking tour guide. Departure from the hotel at 8:00 am. On our today’s trip we drive with an open jeep through the outback. We make short stopovers to taste different fruits of the season, and to enjoy the wonderful view of the untouched nature. Then we drive to a waterfall in the middle of the jungle, which is still considered an insider tip among locals. There we can swim in the lagoon and let the waterfall splash over our heads. A traditional lunch at a local family completes this excursion. Thereby a lot of interesting facts about the country and people are communicated first-hand. Return to the hotel. The total duration of the tour is about 7 hours.

Day 7 – Day at leisure

Day 8 – Transfer to the airport

Transfer to the airport and end of the trip. Extension or combination with other excursions is also possible.
