Puerto Plata and Samaná

Day 1 – Arrival in Cabarete

Arrival at the airport in Puerto Plata, transfer to the hotel in Cabarete and check-in. Rest of the day off.

Day 2 – Day at leisure

Day 3 – Tropical river boat trip

After breakfast, transfer to Islabon with an English speaking tour guide. Departure from the hotel at 09:00 am. First we visit a small petting zoo, where we are going to learn lots of interesting things about the biodiversity of the Dominican Republic. Afterwards we take a 45 min. boat trip along the river Rio Sabaneta de Yasica until we reach La Boca, where the river ends in an untouched part of the sea. It is possible to swim in the river or in the sea. For lunch, traditionally prepared dishes (grilled fish or chicken) await us in a rustic tree house restaurant.  In the afternoon we return by boat to the starting point and then back to the hotel. The total duration of the tour is approx. 6 hours.

Day 4 – Riding excursion ‘mountains and river’

After breakfast, departure from the hotel at 08:40 am and transfer to the Rancho el Contento horse ranch. The riding tour starts around 09:00 am. The riding excursion with an English speaking riding instructor leads to the mountains, where a stopover at a mountain village school is made. Return ride along the beautiful and crystal clear river Rio Veragua. Opportunity to swim in the river. Soft drinks included. The total duration of the tour is approx. 3 hours. Return to the hotel.

Day 5 – Day at leisure

Day 6 – Jungle trekking

After breakfast, half day excursion to jungle trekking with an English peaking tour guide. Departure from the hotel at 08:00 am. Through rivers, dense subtropical vegetation and off the beaten track we hike to various waterfalls in the middle of the jungle. Below the waterfalls you will be able to swim in crystal clear blue lagoons. This trip is exhausting, wet and dirty but worthwhile. Return to the hotel. The total duration of the tour is approx. 4 hours.

Day 7 – Day at leisure

Day 8 – Transfer to Las Terrenas

After breakfast, departure from the hotel at 10:00 am and transfer to the hotel at Las Terrenas with your private chauffeur. Check-in. Rest of the day off.

Day 9 – Day at leisure

Day 10 – Waterfall El Limón and Samaná

After breakfast, pick up by an English speaking tour guide at the hotel reception at 09:00 am. 2 hours hike to the waterfalls of El Limón. Time to swim in the lagoon. Return hike and lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, viist of a local cigar manufactury, transfer to Samaná and guided city tour. Return to the hotel. The total duration of the tour is approx. 8 hours.

Day 11 – Day at leisure

Day 12 – National Park Los Haitises and Bacardi Island

After breakfast, pick up by an English speaking tour guide at the hotel reception at 08:00 am. Transfer to the boat dock. Afterwards boat trip through the Los Haitises National Park including a visit to 2 caves. We then continue to the famous Bacardi Island “Cayo Levantado”, where lunch is served. There will be enough time for swimming and snorkelling on this beautiful island. We will then finally drive to the beautiful beach of Playa Anadel. Time to relax on the beach. Return to the hotel. The total duration of the tour is approx. 9 hours.

Day 15 – Transfer to the airport 

Transfer to Puerto Plata airport and end of the trip. An extension is possible.
