15 Days trip Dominican Republic – Best Of Caribbean
The Dominican Republic is a dreamlike island state which could have come from a picture book and a symbol for exotic holiday dreams. Experience some of the most popular natural beauties and destinations of the island on this exclusive ‘Dominican Republic Roundtrip’.
UNESCO World Heritage Santo Domingo
After relaxing beach days and a stay on the lonely island of Saona, a visit to the capital Santo Domingo is on the agenda. The city offers a fabulous mix of 16th century houses, impressing late medieval palaces and fortresses. The colonial city was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
The sightseeing programme includes various sights and city walks through the old town, including the Parque Colón where the statue of Christopher Columbus and the Alcazár de Colón Palace are located. In addition, the ‘Parque Nacional Tres Ojos’ with its four freshwater lagoons will also be visited.
Rafting on the river Yaque del Norte
On a detour inland, you will explore the fertile high valley where agriculture is practised on a large scale. Far away from the tourist flow, surrounded vegetable plantations and agriculture, you will experience a completely different facet of the Dominican Republic. On an adventurous rafting trip along the Yaque del Norte River, you will experience Class III to Class IV rapids that will change your mind about this island forever.
Try canyoning and waterfall climbing in the north at the famous 27 waterfalls of Damajagua. After a short hike through the jungle, jump, slide and swim your way down to the starting point. Jumps of up to 8 m into small natural pools are possible. Another excursion takes you to the coral reef of Isla Paraíso by speedboat, where you can admire the variety of the colourful underwater world while snorkelling.
Exploring the Samaná Peninsula
During your excursions in Samaná you will discover all the natural beauties of the peninsula such as the El Limón waterfall. This has a height of over 50 metres and is surrounded by lush vegetation. It consists of three smaller waterfalls that plunge from a height of 55 metres into a natural pool where you can enjoy a cool bath in the middle of the jungle.
National Park Los Haitises and Bacardi Island
The boat tour to the National Park “Los Haitises” takes you to the coastal zone of the more than 200 km² nature reserve. A huge green mangrove belt stretches along the coast and over 50 small islands form a labyrinth of waterways.
An excursion to the Cayo Levantado, also called “Bacardi Island”, is also part of the program. The two kilometre long and about 500 metre wide island is a nature reserve and surrounded by a light to turquoise blue sea. In combination with the gorgeous white sandy beaches, the island offers a breathtaking scenery.
